TOPIC: PROSTITUTION

Prostitution is defined as the act of participate in sexual activities in exchange of money or properties.  Eventhough this activity is done by both sexes; it’s more often in women. But it also applies for men in heterosexual prostitution context and homosexual, travesty and transexual, context too. The generic term for persons that practice prostitution is prostitute.

Prostitution has remain alive since centuries ago, not in vane, the bible itself  tells the story of Maria Magdalena, where  in Christ times, it was a fact totally rooted in the social habits of that time.

But we can even look at more ancient times.  It hasn’t exist a good Emperator  that  hadn’t  had a good number of concubines because if you see it in a way beyond the pleasure, a good number of concubines guaranteed to cover the most natural instincts  of procreation and stirpe and education maintenance.

Prostitution had it’s origen in the ancient East cultures.

Herodoto relats in his book “Histories (I 199), under the avocation of Clio muse, the habits, for him, horrible of babilon people about prostitution.

“Every babilon women, had to mantein sexual relations with a stranger at least once in her life, in the afrodit temple,this stranger payed the woman with a coin that become sacrate”.

It’s rare how prostitution was very close to religion in the ancient world, due to there weren’t few congregation the ones that adored a determinate god and during their parties fell into a trance and realized sexual offerings to their god.  As an example we can mention the baco cultures in the ancient Greace where their followers, the bacants, realize during several days’ acts with prisioners, they drank and copulated in orgies, that later were call bacanals.

But prostitution is a phenomenon that has remain invariable along the centuries, maybe with a the pass of medieval history, lost that religion character that mark the classic period but there are not few conquers that feel proud for having conquer more than a piece  of earth.

Later with the expansion of the noble war, women will be offered to soldiers as a trophy even more important that the military action itself.

The eclesiastic guild always characterized (in medieval times) for being big lovers, and there was no Pape that didn’t appreciate a serie   of concubines on his name.   

And don’t try to fool ourselves, even Alfonso XIII was known for his contemporaries not for his direction as a governant, but for his afition to brothels and pornographic films.

Since just little time ago, in the times of big wars, prostitution was used as “Help” to their combatients, you can say as an example, the distribution of condons in the American army in Korea war and it’s consecuent unpunishment for this action from the mayor state. Without doubt the attitude of Japanese army respect this subject was very important.

Since before war, prostitution was a legal activity in Asia and Japan.  The “confort” women, eufenism created by the Japanese people, existed since the samurai period as a mesure to avoid the violations by the soldiers during wars and for satisfy the troop needs.

The only moment were prostitution was clearly hiden and mermade, perhaps, was during the ascence of autoritary regimens of twentieth century that potenciated   a strong morality, helped for the catholicism that sentenced prostitution to refugiate in corns of alleys, protected in night  and without more social security that the one that is processed between them.

What’s had been patented along the history is that prostitution until our days had been exclusively for women.

Putting aside the male prostitution that slowly advances with this. With no doubt  the only male prostitution reflected in history has been the treated for the sex topic from men to men, like it would be the case of eunucs, eventough always more associated to the accumulation of power for this sectors.

“No woman it’s born to be a whore”, it’s a title that we borrow from a sample of art organized in Buenos Aires in 2006 by “creating women”, from Bolivia, and AMMAR capital, an association of Argentin Prostitutes.  They red this following text:

“I’m a woman. Not a thing and I’m here to say stop. My body is expropriated by proxenets, clients, police, politics and sindicalists, I’m here to say stop. To the society I say: mister, misses, don’t believe that I like to be stand in your door houses. That’s why today I want to be clear in some things. Don’t be hipocrates.  My clients are your brothers, husbands, cousins, sons and priests.  Mr, Ms. I don’t need your sentence:  I give it back to you. Prostitution is not a whore topic. If you don’t want me in the corner, fight with me. Scream with me: “I’m here to soy stop!!”
